You’d be surprised at how much information is available to you…every day. Living in an era where information is literally at our finger tips - there are really no excuse not to be informed. Each morning before I check my email I browse Yahoo Finance and Yahoo Real Estate and come across at least one interesting article that I read. Whether it’s about new, all-time low mortgage interest rates or how to save $3000 in a year, there is new information available to me at the start of each day. Today’s article introduced me to the world of “gift taxes”. We are now at the end of our 2012 tax season and for those individuals who have acquired large sums of money - like those lucky lotto winners who recently won millions of dollars on April 7th – a large percentage of their earnings will be subject to taxation based on the gift tax, specifically if funds are “gifted" to other people such as family and friends. The underlying message of the article is to know the tax codes, especially if you play lotto (occasionally like me) and are unfamiliar with tax codes set by the internal revenue service (IRS). So, yes, I learned something new…before 9:00am this morning and I encourage you (yes you) to take a few minutes of your day to read something that interests you. I promise it will be fun! Till Next Time, Peace
